I'm still traumatized by the story.
It's just a book. A malay novel.
In the first chapter, the father died of cancer.
Second chapter. No. Not even second chapter, the mother remarries with the father's friend. The moment i read it, i felt sorry for the girl in the book. For 4 months she tried to get used to her stepfather, and then suddenly one night, the stepfather came into the room and raped her. That's not all. The stepfather told her if she dares to tell her mother about this, be prepared to see who the mother will trust. The daughter or the husband that she loved.
Finally, second chapter, the girl kept about this matter for weeks, and by the time her mother came back from her outstation, her mother have to go off again. Before she knew it, her stepfather is repeating the same steps again. She can't handle the pressure and the secret that she held within her heart. She did not even bothered to speak up to her mother. Cause she knows for sure that her mother will trust the stepfather more than her.
Third chapter, the girl went out of her house to meet her friend for school. Unfortunately she fainted in front of her friend's house. Her friends mother called in the doctor to do some check ups on her. That's when they found out that the girl had been raped. And they demanded to know who did this to her. So, when the girl told them, the stepfather gets arrested. Unfortunately, the mother, instead of comforting her daughter, she scolded and saying things that a mother should not have said. In the end, the girl had been chased out by her own mother and their relationship status are now no longer mother and daughter.
That part, i teared up. I visualized the story. I can see it playing through the walls of my room.
So cut the story short, in the end the girl met her soulmate and married and the mother eventually wants her to come back and lived together again.
The title of this story was "Why Me" by Nuroll(or was it suppose to be Nurul)Shazlinda Hairul.
